Family and Ministry Update
August 6, 2011
My Family
Let me begin by saying that we are blessed and thankful for the Father's Grace. With 12 children, there is too much to report in one short update, but I'll try.
Ruthy stays busy being a great wife, caring for and homeschooling our children, and with spending much time caring for my elderly mom.
Caleb (21) recently started his own business and stays busy working and ministering on the street. He is in a courtship with Genna Ramey. Our family is very fond of her.
Christian (18) is a hard worker and continues to grow close to his Heavenly Father. He is also a great big brother.
Gabriel (16) recently got his learners permit, is progressing in his homeschooling, plans to head back to China and spends a lot of time taking care of his brothers, sisters and grandmother.
Charity (15) Is walking with the Father, looks forward to heading back to China and has become my competition in the book business.
Malachi (13) is our mechanical son. He is always working on his go-cart and building things. He is looking forward to his first trip to China soon.
Hosanna (11) was recently baptized. She loves the Father and is seeking to know him better.
Noah (10) is a kind hearted guy and is a huge help around the Green household.
Faithful (8) is a good big sister who is growing in her walk with the Father.
Nathan (7) is a smiley guy who looks out for his younger siblings.
Naomi (5) is a sweetheart who recently started school and is a joy to her parents.
Judah (2) is a tough little guy who surprises us often with his expanding vocabulary.
Mercy (9 months) is our baby. She gets a heap of attention from us all and is a lot of fun.
I pray that each of our children will walk faithfully with the Messiah and have His heart for ministry and holiness.
Our Daily Ministry on the Street
For the last seventeen years LLM has ministered on the sidewalks at Richmond area abortion clinics. In that time, I have seen hundreds of babies saved from a brutal death and scores of lives impacted with the Gospel.
A typical day (Tues., Wed., Thurs., and Fri.), will have me loading up several of our 12 children and heading to Richmond. We are joined on the street by several faithful brothers and sisters who sacrifice many hours to reach out to those arriving at the clinics and to those we daily encounter on the street. I have been blessed to have a dedicated core team to work with over the years (thinking especially of Mary Penner and Paul Trout, though several other could also be mentioned). Currently, we daily minister at three abortion clinics in and around Richmond. It isn't easy or pleasant work but it is a much neglected ministry in the church today. At the clinics, we offer the last witness for life and the Gospel to those who plan to kill their children that day. Our target group is one that isn't reached by other ministries or even Crisis Pregnancy Centers. We are offering literally the last Christian plea to dozens daily just before they sacrifice their precious babies.
I'll be honest in saying that it has become extremely difficult to have a continuous presence at the killing centers in recent years. We have had to make many sacrifices (willingly) to be there. I drive 3+ hours each day we minister and our income has dropped drastically as the economy has suffered. Some of the extra outreaches we conducted regularly in years past have had to be put on hold or eliminated. We are, however, committed to having a daily presence at the clinics regardless of the decrease in our funding.
Please continue to daily lift this ministry in prayer. I don't request this lightly as a quaint Christian cliche. I have seen the Father work as His people pray and we truly need your prayer support.
Taking the Gospel to Unreached Muslims and Buddhists in China
I am currently putting together a team for an upcoming Gospel outreach to China scheduled for December. This will be my 9th trip. Please pray for us as we prepare. The work we do in China is to unreached people groups in northwestern China. We are not duplicating the work of other organizations or underground Christians. The people we are reaching have never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel. They are predominately Hui Muslims and Tibetan Buddhists.
We need your help to cover the costs of this trip. We will be carrying in over a ton of Bibles and Gospel literature and will distribute our Gospel literature door-to-door during the overnight hours. One-on-one witnessing takes place as we make contacts each day.
